Recommended to me by a friend, I read this to my 4 year old and he loved it. Powerful messages of self-acceptance and why feeling different can be a superpower. A book that can be read through the growing-up years and it never loses its magic.
JCOTA little book of joy!
We chose Jay and the Magic Glasses for our child, but it turned into a story we both enjoyed. The idea of the magic glasses is really creative and immediately pulled our child in and it kept the story interesting for me as well.
Our child loved following Jay and discovering how the glasses work and I appreciated the humor and the way the story is put together. Jay feels relatable and his journey has a nice balance of fun, adventure and small lessons without feeling preachy.
The writing is easy to follow, the pacing is good and the world feels imaginative without being confusing. It’s a great book for kids to read on their own, but it also works really well as a shared read.
If you’re looking for a magical story that both kids and adults can enjoy together, this is definitely worth a read.

Fantastic themes to discuss with older children
And wonderfully engaging and imaginative to read with younger kids.
Rachel GaskellWonderful book
A beautiful, inspiring book about a boy with a wonderful imagination, and a very special vision! My son was captivated by this moving story, and it was lovely to hear him read it aloud, and see his delight as the magic of the glasses unfolds.
Amazon CustomerA magical read!
Absolutely amazing! Will help if you read it to a child and explain to him what can be seen through the magic glasses: up to him.
Mrs. NAA must read
What a sweet, imaginative story with a lovely sense of adventure and wonder. This is the kind of book that children can enjoy for the story itself, while adults can appreciate its warmth and deeper message. A charming read, and one I would happily recommend.
